Vogue 8601 completed!

...and I want one for myself!

I've discovered that I really like sewing jackets. Progress on my sister's jacket went quickly and I love the result! Once I finished the muslin and made a few minor adjustments (sleeve and bodice length) I started constructing the outside.

Promising:)

I was a little worried about the lining, it turned out to be a lot thinner than I first thought. I hoped it would hold up against the brocade.

In hindsight I would have chosen something a it thicker but it worked fine (and the color is exactly what I wanted.)

This is where I realized that I put the in-seam buttonhole on the right side of the shell and the left side of the lining. Oops.

Sleeves and sleeve linings attached. It sat like this for a while before I worked up the courage to take the seam ripper out to fix my buttonhole mistake and add the second buttonhole (can you tell I don't like buttonholes?)

But I love the buttons!

I have not yet sewn in the shoulder pads. I want my sister to try it on before I place them. You can't really see the slit up the back in this photo.

Here I've pinned back one tail - I love the softness of the lining.

You can kind of make out the sleeve darts here. I know the two-piece sleeve pattern is considered more professional but this was easy and it looks nice.

Love that shimmer!

The waist is a bit short for me but I love the look and plan to make one for myself. I highly recommend the pattern!

Thanks for looking!
